François L'Olonnais

One of history's most brutal pirates, a French buccaneer whose sadistic cruelty terrorized the Spanish Caribbean in the 1660s. Operating from Tortuga, he led devastating raids on Maracaibo and other Spanish settlements, reportedly torturing prisoners with unimaginable violence. His bloodthirsty reputation made him both feared and legendary among Caribbean pirates.

Pierre Le Picard

A French buccaneer who served as an officer under both L'Olonnais and Henry Morgan, participating in legendary raids on Maracaibo and Panama. Operating from the 1660s-1680s, he may have been among the first pirates to raid both Caribbean and Pacific coasts, commanding the 10-gun ship Saint-Pierre during his Caribbean exploits.

Moïse Vauquelin

A French buccaneer who arrived in the Caribbean from Normandy around 1650. He joined l'Olonnais's buccaneering fleet at Tortuga and participated in raids that looted Spanish settlements throughout the Spanish Main during the next two years. Operating during the golden age of Caribbean piracy, he was part of the notorious French buccaneer expeditions of the 1650s-1660s.

Roche Braziliano

A notorious Dutch pirate from Groningen who earned his nickname from his time in Brazil. Operating from Port Royal, Jamaica from 1654, he became one of the Caribbean's most successful and cruel buccaneers. Rising from common seaman to captain, Braziliano was immortalized in Alexandre Exquemelin's famous 1678 work "The Buccaneers of America" before mysteriously disappearing around 1671.

Daniel Montbars "The Exterminator"

A French buccaneer born into wealth in Languedoc. Educated as a gentleman, he developed a fanatical hatred of Spain after reading about conquistador atrocities against natives. Operating from Tortuga, he became one of the most violent anti-Spanish pirates, rivalling L'Olonnais in his fierce reputation for brutally killing Spaniards with gleeful bloodthirst.

Michiel Andrieszoon

A Dutch pirate captain who commanded the powerful 300-man warship Le Tigre in the Caribbean. Operating as trusted lieutenant to renowned pirate Laurens de Graaf, he co-led the famous 1683 raid on Veracruz, one of the last great buccaneering expeditions. His brief but notable career exemplified the professional coordination that marked piracy's golden age before disappearing from historical records.
